Very nice, quietly situated cottage with very good equipment

The cottage is quietly situated in a large park/forest area, diagonally opposite the owner’s house. The hosts were very friendly, every question / request was clarified very quickly. The house is comfortably furnished, and rooms and facilities are suitable for 6 people, but one has to cope with a bath / a toilet. The cottage does not have its own terrace, but there is a fenced garden with seating and play areas as well as a pool in the immediate vicinity.

The Dartmoor National Park can be reached by car in no time at all, and the coast is only an hour’s drive away. The location is ideal if you want a mix of moor, coast, national trust properties and typical south-west England feeling.

For hikers and dog owners: smaller (walking) rounds (10 minutes) are possible on the premises, but hikes directly from the house (except for a limited possibility) are not possible. Usually you have to drive to the starting point by car, but there are many alternatives within a radius of about 30 minutes. Tip: Drake`s Trail in the valley of the River Walkham, access via hiking car park 3 minutes drive from the cottage towards Yelverton.

Maintenance was very intrusive

We had hoped to have a gorgeous quiet restful week but the property had maintenance happening all week, including several days by our kitchen window on the garage doors and inside on machinery which included banging through the walls and paint smells and a man stood there working all day – what was described as our private garden was also used for maintenance which meant we felt we couldn’t go in there and couldn’t dry our wet towels because of wood being cut. It really did spoil our experience of the property and we were very disappointed it didn’t live up to previous reviews as it had great potential.

I do think such extensive maintenance to the cottage etc should be done when paying guests are not there or at least there should be some warning – we would not have booked it if we had known.

Furzeland cottage

This cottage was a beautiful cottage in fantastic grounds , unfortunately for us the weather was not amazing so didn’t get chance to use pool but there was plenty of local activities to do , we would definitely recommend this cottage

Lovely property, peaceful location. Worth booking for Rosemarys flapjacks alone.

Excellent base for many different locations and lots to do. The property has everything you need and is great for children and dogs, with the pool being an added bonus. We would definitely book again.

Beautiful Property

Wonderful scones and clotted cream on arrival. Very well presented cottage with quality furnishings. We hired the cottage to accommodate our bridesmaids so there was a fair amount of comings and goings. Plenty of space to park and good usable space in the house to get ready. Thank you so much for letting us share your space.

Thank you for your super review. it was lovely to meet you.
